| CALVINISM | |||||||||||||||||
| One of the most pernicious heresies of our day is the teaching of ‘once saved always saved’, sometimes called Calvinism. John Calvin invented this horrible teaching during the reformation in the 16th century in response to Catholicism. Basically, he took martin Luther’s doctrine of grace only for salvation and took it all the way out to its logical end. The result of this is the teaching that some are predestined to be saved and can never be lost no matter what they do. (Thus legalizing sin or separating the spirit of a man from being responsible for what his soul does.) You can only promote this teaching by lifting a few scriptures out of context and ignoring the rest of Yahweh's word. In my experience, this teaching is found mainly among those who want to be called a child of Yahweh and yet have never known Yahweh personally, or those who are not willing to obey the Laws of yahweh. If they had truly experienced His Mercy, they would avoid sin like a plague and would know from experience that committing sin separates them from the Lord. In the following scriptures we find that obedience to Yahweh's commandments is required after conversion.
In 2 Cor. 2:9, Paul writes, "For this is why I wrote, that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything." Also in 2 Cor. 10:5-6, "We destroy arguments and every proud obstacle to the knowledge of Yahweh, and take every thought captive to obey his laws, ---." In Rev. 22:14, "Blessed are they that do His commandments that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city." There are just a few of the many scriptures we could put forth; however, if they will not believe these more would just be superfluous. In consideration of ‘once saved always saved’ I submit the following: Rev. 3:5, "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before His angels." Rev. 20:12-15, "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before Yahweh; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the Book of Life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and Death and Hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were JUDGED every man according to THEIR WORKS. And Death and Hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the Second Death. And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the Lake of Fire." Rev. 21:27, "And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or a lie: but they which are written in Yahweh's Book of Life. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, Yahweh shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the Holy City, and from the things which are written in this book." JUST BECAUSE YOUR NAME HAS BEEN WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE, DOESN’T MEAN IT CANNOT BE TAKEN OUT DUE TO SIN. IN THE SCRIPTURE ABOVE, SOME OF THOSE WHOSE NAMES WERE WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF LIFE WILL HAVE THEIR NAMES TAKEN OUT DURING THEIR LIFE ON EARTH BECAUSE OF SIN. INSTEAD OF BEING SAVED THEY WILL, RATHER, BE CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE! That some who come to know Yahweh will fall away because of sin and be lost is also shown in the following scriptures. We find Peter teaching this in 2 Pet. 2:20-21, “For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of Yahshua's teachings, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them." Also see Rom. 11:22-23. I THINK IT IS MORE THAN OBVIOUS THAT CALVIN'S TEACHINGS ARE A DECEPTION. I think it is interesting to note that this man, John Calvin, killed Michel Servatus, a godly Spanish theologian, over the Doctrine of the Trinity. He was also fond of drowning Anabaptists. |
